Who was the first female CEO?
Debbie Moore, a former dancer and model was the first female founder to IPO on the London Stock Exchange. We will come back to who she is in a second but look at this picture of all the old boys surrounding her on the dealing floor. Brave!
Debbie is from Urmston, Manchester and an inspiration to us at JT.
Debbie Moore OBE is an English retired model and businesswoman who founded the Pineapple Dance Studios and its associated clothing brand. She was the first woman to float a company on the London Stock Exchange and in 1984 was an early winner of the prestigious Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of The Year Award.
We always talk about better diversity in finance leads to better investment decisions. Now look at this picture of Debbie again, but look at the men – they are all the same!
